Accommodation

Our centre has six modern accommodation cabins for visiting students with the following features:

  • energy-efficient design including louvres for airflow and temperature regulation and air conditioning for cooling
  • sleeping up to 11 occupants
  • composting toilets
  • hot and cold water with water-efficient taps and shower
  • 240v power (but not suitable for hairdryers or heaters)
  • inclusive access and bathroom facilities in Cabin 4 only (see images below)

Teachers need to check all cabins for lost property before the depart the centre.

The student cabin floor plan for cabins 1, 2, 3, 5 are below. Cabin 4 has an extra shower to support students with mobility needs.

Teachers are required to conduct a rubbish pick up around cabins before they depart. All rubbish is removed from the island.

Teachers are required to discuss respect for the centre's facilities prior to their visit and during the visit.

Visitors are requested to save water. Teachers are advised to check every cabin each day.

Composting toilet lid should be left down when not in use.

Each cabin has a teacher bed with fan and curtains. Primary students often have an adult sleep in each cabin.

Visitors staying in the volunteers or teachers cabin can use the shower and toilet facilities for staff.
