Konomie Island Environmental Education Centre is situated eleven kilometres off Yeppoon on the Capricorn Coast in Central Queensland. It is the only Environmental Education Centre on a national park island surrounded by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.
There are no other developments on the island that can only be accessed by boat.
The centre is operated by the Dept of Education (DoE) and the day to day operations are often conducted with key
island management partners such as Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services
(QPWS).
Visitors to the centre can experience a rich diversity of real life experiences such as:

- investigating sustainability living practices
- kayaking
- outrigging
- marine studies
- indigenous history
- sustainable fishing
- coral and mangrove studies
- drone flying
- macro invertabrates
Your imagination is the only limiting factor.
The highly experienced teaching team at the centre support the planning and implementation of visiting group's programs. Resources such as 'Gundoo Spirit', the centre's purpose built boat, are available to make camps fantastic learning experiences.
Konomie Island EECentre acknowledges the Traditional Custodians the Woppaburra of the country in which this centre is located and pays respect to their Elders past, present and emerging.
